Who we are

SPYDER is operated by XtremeX Limited.

This Privacy Policy applies to personal information handled by XtremeX Limited in connection with SPYDER, including information collected through spyder.co.nz, enquiries, launch registrations, bookings, vehicle rentals and related customer services.

01

Information we collect

The personal information we collect depends on how you interact with SPYDER.

This may include:

  • Communications between you and SPYDER by email, WhatsApp, telephone or other channels.
  • Information relating to payments, refunds, bonds or pre-authorisations where applicable.
  • Information associated with incidents, damage, breakdowns, infringements or insurance claims.

We aim to collect only information that is reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it is being collected.

Rental & driver information

Renting a vehicle requires more information than making a general website enquiry.

Before allowing someone to drive a SPYDER vehicle, we may need to obtain and verify information such as the driver’s name, date of birth, contact details, driver’s licence, licence status and other information reasonably required to confirm rental eligibility.

Additional drivers may be required to provide the same types of information.

If information required to establish driver eligibility or complete a rental agreement is not provided, we may not be able to allow that person to drive or complete the booking.

04

Website & technical information

When you use spyder.co.nz, some technical information may be collected automatically by the website or services used to operate it.

This may include:

  • Browser and device information.
  • Pages visited and interactions with the website.
  • Referring website or campaign information.
  • UTM and other marketing-attribution information.
  • IP address and general technical information associated with a website request.
  • Cookies or similar technologies used for website functionality, analytics, security or performance.

We may use this information to understand how the site is being used, diagnose problems, measure marketing activity and improve SPYDER’s website and services.

05

When we may share information

We do not sell customer personal information.

We may provide personal information to organisations that help us operate SPYDER where this is reasonably necessary for the purpose for which the information was collected. These may include:

  • Website, hosting, cloud and IT service providers.
  • Booking and customer-management service providers.
  • Payment and payment-processing providers.
  • Identity or licence-verification providers.
  • Email, messaging and communications providers.
  • Insurers, insurance assessors and roadside-assistance providers.
  • Professional advisers such as accountants, lawyers or auditors.
  • Government, regulatory or enforcement agencies where disclosure is authorised or required by law.

We may also disclose information where this is necessary to investigate an accident, damage, an infringement, suspected fraud or another legal or safety issue.

06

Overseas service providers

Some technology and cloud services used by SPYDER may process or store information using infrastructure located outside New Zealand.

Where personal information is disclosed to an overseas organisation, we will handle that disclosure in accordance with applicable New Zealand privacy requirements.

07

Storage & security

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information against loss, misuse, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.

Personal information may be held using electronic systems, cloud services, business applications and other systems used to operate SPYDER and XtremeX Limited.

No method of electronic storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure, but we aim to use safeguards appropriate to the information we hold.

08

How long we keep information

We retain personal information only for as long as it is reasonably required for the purposes for which it was collected, for legitimate business requirements, or to satisfy legal, accounting, insurance or regulatory obligations.

Different information may therefore be retained for different periods.

When information is no longer reasonably required, we may securely delete, destroy or anonymise it where appropriate.

09

Email & marketing communications

If you join our launch list or otherwise ask to receive SPYDER updates, we may use your contact details to send relevant launch, availability, vehicle, experience or promotional information.

You can ask us to stop sending marketing communications at any time by using any unsubscribe option provided or contacting us directly.

We may still send messages that are necessary to administer an existing enquiry, booking or rental.

Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, you can ask us for access to personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct information that is inaccurate.

To make an access or correction request, email: enquiries@spyder.co.nz.

We may need to verify your identity before providing personal information or making certain changes.

Where a privacy breach has caused or is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify the affected people and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner where required by the Privacy Act 2020.
