Meet SPYDER by XtremeX, a new self-drive concept built around lightweight, open-top and enthusiast sports cars. Not transport. Not a fleet of appliances. Cars you book because the road itself is the reason.

It is designed for visitors discovering New Zealand, locals looking for a properly memorable escape, or anyone who simply wants to enjoy the drive without spending hours planning it first.

Think Martinborough wineries, the Art Deco streets of Napier, Taupō and the central North Island, the Desert Road, Wairarapa and East Coast roads, with plenty more still to explore. These are examples of the kinds of journeys we are considering, not confirmed packages.

Is SPYDER operating now?
Not yet. This page is an early demand test for a possible Summer 2026/27 launch. The founding list helps us decide the fleet, hire formats and what people actually want before we commit.
Is this part of XtremeX?
Yes. SPYDER is being explored as a separate self-drive brand from the team behind XtremeX, with its own identity while carrying the same focus on memorable automotive experiences.
What cars will be available?
No cars have been chosen yet. The Abarth 124 Spider and Mazda MX-5 are our first shortlisted options because both are well renowned for their driver experience. The founding list will help us decide what should actually be in the launch fleet.
What will the age, licence and insurance requirements be?
Those details will be confirmed before bookings open. Driver eligibility, licence requirements, insurance, security bonds and hire conditions will all be clearly published before anyone pays.
Will SPYDER offer complete road-trip packages?
That is part of the concept we are validating. We are exploring curated journeys that could combine a SPYDER car with a suggested route, places to stay and local experiences. We also want customers to be able to choose between doing most of the planning themselves or letting us organise much more of the trip.
